Questions, answered

The things people ask most about SyncLab and Creative Tools Lab. Can't find it here? Get in touch.

Is SyncLab free?
Yes — it's completely free during the public beta. Every feature, on both Mac and Windows, no card required. We'll introduce pricing later, and beta testers get a thank-you when we do.
Does my footage get uploaded anywhere?
No. SyncLab runs entirely on your computer — your video, audio, file names and project structure never leave your machine. There's no cloud step and no account needed. See our Privacy Policy.
Which editors can I export to?
SyncLab exports a ready-to-edit timeline as FCPXML (for DaVinci Resolve) and CMX 3600 EDL. Premiere Pro support is on the way. Lanes, speeds and bin structure are preserved.
What cameras and formats does it support?
It's designed to work with footage from any camera — mirrorless, cinema cameras, action cams and phones — as long as the clips share a common audio reference. Mixed cameras and formats in one project are expected, not a problem.
Does it handle slow-motion?
Yes. High-frame-rate and variable-speed clips are detected automatically and placed at the correct speed, so ramps and slow-mo shots land in the right spot without manual fiddling.
How many cameras can it handle?
It runs reliably on multi-camera projects — five-camera shoots are stable today, and we're pushing that further. If you're working with a bigger rig, we'd love to hear how it goes.
Mac and Windows?
Both. SyncLab is a native desktop app for macOS and Windows.
What happens if a clip doesn't sync confidently?
Nothing is hidden from you. Every clip is marked as synced, low-confidence, or needs-a-look, so you can glance at the timeline and know exactly what (if anything) to double-check.
When will it leave beta, and what will it cost?
We'll ship v1.0 when it's genuinely solid — not before. Pricing isn't finalised yet; the beta is free, and testers will be looked after when paid plans arrive.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email beta@ctlab.app (or use the in-app feedback button). Include your OS and a short description — your feedback directly shapes the release.
